Na'ema (she/her) of Aaliyah Belly Dance studied dances of the Middle East and northern Africa learning Raks Sharki, or belly dance, as a teenager.* Na'ema has a love of the music and dances of these regions. Dance is joy! "What a pleasure to share my joy of belly dance with others."
Na'ema led body image and dance workshops for girls at risk, developed and led back care workshops for corporate learning, workshops on Egyptian folkloric dances, and continues to perform at, and lead, a variety of events. Na'ema hosts an annual fundraising Hafla (party/dance) show with dancers from all over Eastern Ontario in support of our local Interval House. It has been Na'ema's privilege to work with representatives of Leeds & Grenville Interval House and the worldwide ShimmyMob organization to raise funds and speak out in support of abused women everywhere.
*Na'ema also has a background in Ballet, American Jazz, Martha Graham modern dance, African and dances of the Caribbean.
